The task was to create a portable exhibition for the UN convention for the rights of disabled people in Germany. This convention, which grants more rights to disabled people, was signed by the German government in March 2009. Nevertheless, reality begs to differ.

In collaboration with Lena Winkler and Henrike Großer I designed a touring exhibition to bring some needed light in this subject, which fell into oblivion and darkness. The touring exhibition, which we gave the title 'light into darkness' was chosen to be realised in 2012 and is still touring through Germany. The exhibition aims to make people think about the current situation of disabled people. The design of the exhibition is separated into four sections, the four main topics of the UN convention: Accessibility, Equal Opportunities, Self-determination and Non-discrimination.

In the centre is a illuminated pillar, which converts the text of the UN convention into easy-to-understand-language. On the walls are matching examples of everyday life situations of those people. These examples that we found in our research, are often shocking. We decided to make a clear and provocative design to make people deal with this topic. Furthermore we designed it so that people with and without a disability can comprehend it without problems. Part of the text is interactive, as it can be scrolled up and down in the speed the viewer reads and in the height that tall, small and people in wheelchairs need for ease of reading.
